Big Lagoon
Big Lagoon in El Nido, Palawan, is one of the Philippines' most photogenic natural wonders — a cathedral of sheer limestone karst walls enclosing a serene turquoise lagoon accessible only through a narrow gap in the cliffs, calm enough to kayak. The lagoon's turquoise shallows, dramatic rock walls covered in climbing vegetation, and the sight of kingfishers and swiftlets wheeling overhead create an otherworldly atmosphere of secluded natural perfection. It is the centerpiece of El Nido's famous island-hopping tours.
